Liturgical Ministries

Lector
God speaks to us in the Liturgy of the Word. The primary role of a Lector is to proclaim the Word of God from the Holy Scriptures. Lectors assist the priest by reading the First Reading, the Second Reading, and the Prayers of the Faithful during Mass. Lectors should be conscious of their role in expressing God’s Word to the rest of the parish community present at the liturgy. Lectors are  Parishioners 14 years of age and older, in full communion with the Catholic Church, authorized and trained to proclaim the readings from Sacred Scripture (other than the Gospel) during Masses, and to announce the intentions for the General Intercessions. To be trained to become a Lector at St.  Edwards - please contact the parish office 740-587-3254. 

Eucharistic Minister
Eucharistic ministers assist the clergy in the timely and reverent distribution of the Eucharist under both forms at Mass when the pastoral need arises. Interested volunteers may inquire about formation and training which takes place periodically during the year or by appointment - please contact the parish office 740-587-3254.

Altar Server
This ministry assists the clergy at the Eucharistic celebrations. Their specific duties are discussed and practiced during training. Altar Servers also by their example encourage the assembly to pray and worship with dignity and grace. Volunteers are accepted from parishioner’s children 4^th grade and up. Usher
Ushers and greeters have the privilege of working directly with parishioners and visitors before, during and after church services.
Duties include:
Greet in the Gathering Space

• Handout bulletins
• When necessary, direct parishioners and visitors to seats.
• Pass baskets for collection
• Guide during Communion
• Be available to assist with special needs
• Clean pews after Mass
• And, Welcome with a Smile!

 We appreciate a weekly commitment to one of the weekend Masses—5 pm Sat., 8:15 or 10:45 on Sun. Substitutes are welcome and sometimes needed.
